Tesla Electric GT Announces First Official Race For November Of This Year Staff Writer April 7, 2017 News The all-Tesla racing championship, Electric GT, finally has a start date, which is coming later this year in late November. Originally the championship was slated to kick off in August at Silverstone, but that start date has now been pushed back to November 25th and will take place at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. Electric GT will feature stripped down, race specific Model S P100D builds. The cars should be producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 778 HP. The Model S used in Electric GT will have all the interiors removed for weight saving, and will see 0-60 times in the 2.1-second range. In addition to weight shedding, the cars will also have upgraded suspension and brake parts. Weekends will consist of a 20-minute practice session, 60-minute qualifying, a day race (60km) and a dusk race (60km). Each round will be a weekend-long festival of technology and innovation for sustainability, in and around the circuits.” Electric GT CEO Mark Gemmel commented on the start date: “We are very happy that Paul Ricard will host the first two Electric Grand Prix events in November. They have demonstrated a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for the championship and it will be a fantastic festival for sustainability that fans are certain to enjoy.
