Tesla Show Us Its Ventilator Made Of Model 3 Car Parts To Help COVID-19 Patients

Tesla has released a video of how far the company has come designing and building a ventilator from its own car parts bin. This has come from the effects of COVID-19 on hospitals around the world who are now struggling to keep up with the sheer number of patients needing treatment to combat the virus.

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, has questioned the danger of the virus recently, but despite this has shown no hesitation in providing what help he and his companies can to help those affected. Recently, Elon and his Chinese Tesla team were able to secure over 1,000 ventilators and airship them to America where they were used by hospitals in need. Now, the car company has opened its New York Gigafactory in order to produce its own ventilators alongside Medtronic.

Here’s a video of Tesla’s latest efforts:

This brief but informative video shows a number of Tesla engineers working on this prototype, including Joseph Mardall, an engineering director in charge of the HIVAC system. As you can see from the video, the design is heavily based on Tesla car parts from the Model 3 for the most part. The most obvious and visible part is the Model 3 screen that acts as the UI for the machine. Using a number of sensors, it tracks the performance of the patient’s lungs.

“There’s still a lot of work to do, but we are giving our best effort to make sure we can help some people out there,” says one of the engineers.

We’re so grateful for not just Tesla, but for every other car company doing their bit to help people in need right now. It shows us that we’re not just part of a closed bubble. Stay save, everybody.
