ECD Has Built An All-Electric Land Rover With A Tesla Powertrain

ECD Automotive Design, Formerly known as East Coast Defender, has started selling the absolute coolest electric Land Rover Defender 110 imaginable. The repurposed 100 kwh Tesla powertrain will get an estimated 220 miles of range in its new body, while also achieving a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds!

Where moderation may not be the first thing to come to mind with giant Defenders, this might be the most tantalizing 4×4 yet for EV aficionados.  The ability to get into one of these beautiful pieces of engineering mastery, while maintaining all the benefits of Tesla’s best-in-class Motor Direct Drive means all the fun and none of the guilt.

As you can see from the image of their chassis, this isn’t your typical EV conversion. They have gone ahead and taken advantage of the 110’s size to engineer a whole new battery configuration and motor mounts. Furthermore, ECD have also included a charging system capable of three-phase charging the Defender in 5 hours, or 10 hours with the standard home chargers.

This makes sense, as ECD completely strips down and rebuilds their Defenders to a higher than original specification. In doing so, they allow you to customize just about every option imaginable. They aren’t exactly a team interested in half measures or barebones retrofits.

Optional features such as winches, roll-cages, floods, folding back seats, and pleated leather interiors, will make this the go-to for silent and deadly James Bond baddies. Of course with price tags starting around $150K, the real question is can you afford to get on the waiting list before the Cybertruck and Bollinger release.
