The Tesla of Boats Silent Yachts Increase Production for Electric Catamarans Line

The Tesla of the Seas, Silent Yacht, is reported to boost production of electric catamarans as the company is currently producing 10 boats, with 11 electric yachts on the water.

By 2021, Silent Yacht target to produce more, dozens according to a report. The higher production is due to the predicted increase in demand for electric catamarans. Compared to other forms of vehicles, boats require a tremendous amount of time to produce and deployment involves tedious processes, specifically for bigger crafts like the Silent Yacht’s electric catamarans.

The electric catamarans are categorized into three full line up of boats of which are powered by solar and battery. The line ups are 55-ft, 60-ft, and 80-ft.

Silent Yachts boats can generate up to 26 kW of solar power and be supplied with up to 532 kWh of battery capacity which almost the energy capacity of more than five Tesla Model S cars.

The video below shows the common use case of a Silent Yacht powered by clean energy, with the installed solar panels and batteries providing power to the electric motors or generator.

Plugboat reports:

“To meet demand, Silent-Yachts has new shipyards in Thailand and Italy. The Asian yard, about 220 km from Bangkok, is led by Swiss entrepreneur Philippe Guénat and is the largest privately-owned shipyard in South East Asia. In Fano, Italy, a series of Silent 60s are now under construction and a second line is being set up to provide capacity for building 15 Silent 60s a year.”

Silent Yacht is working on an entry-level boat, one Silent 55, four Silent 80’s which is the company’s biggest vessel, and 15 Silent 60’s.
