Telling Joe Rogan on his famous podcast, Elon Musk was asked about the new Tesla Roadster. It’s safe to say that the Tesla CEO didn’t hesitate to tell us what he wants to see in the all-electric hypercar, and what he said to Joe was quite unbelievable.
“I want it to hover, and I was trying to figure out how to make this thing hover without, you know, killing people,” said Elon. With the Roadster constantly being pushed back, I’m hesitating to believe such a thing would ever be seen on the road.
“I thought maybe we could make it hover but not too high. Maybe it can hover, like, a meter above the ground, or something like that. If you plummet, it’ll blow out the suspension, but you’re not going to die,” he admits.
Musk did however state that Tesla was reaching the end of engineering on the new Roadster, explaining that “we’re going to throw some rocket technology in that car.” He’s already discussed this in a tweet a couple of years ago with technology YouTuber Marques Brownlee.
SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly …

Marques responded simply, “no takebacks, Elon…”
You have my word, Marques. Next gen Roadster will be absolutely out of this world. For those who love to drive, there is no finer car in history and we don’t think there will be another.

Absolutely sick. Never been so pumped for a delivery in my life.
Also hey, if you ever get a "free" day or just want to rant about tech to a camera, hit me up anytime, would love to have you on the channel 😎

If this really does happen, it will be very interesting to see how road regulations deal with a hovering car, or if it’s even allowed on the public road. But there’s no doubt that it will change the future of driving and car design.
