Tesla Roadster 2.0 Delayed Until 2023 At The Very Earliest
Tesla CEO and Twitter deviant Elon Musk has revealed that the all-electric car manufacturer will maybe ship the Tesla Roadster in 2023, as long as there’s not “mega drama” in regards to supply chain issues caused by the pandemic.
The Roadster was supposed to be delivered in 2020, but was pushed back multiple times due to issues with the battery and supporting technology. The push to mass-produce the Model Y and Model 3 also pushed the Roadster to the sidelines, with the main revenue lines being the priority.
We’ve heard very little about the production of the Roadster 2.0, but little bits of information have been released. We know that a high performance variant will possess SpaceX thruster technology to increase its straight line performance to well into the 1 second mark to 60mph. The supercar will hover, apparently.
Despite this huge promise, there’s been no real set dates for the car, with the timeline of its production being up in the air through the whole process.
Elon posted the following to Twitter:
“2021 has been the year of super crazy supply chain shortages, so it wouldn’t matter if we had 17 new products, as none would ship. Assuming 2022 is not mega drama, new Roadster should ship in 2023.”

Tesla is not the only automaker to face issues thanks to supply chain shortages. Fellow EV manufacturer NIO has been hugely impacted by the chip shortage, as have other mainstream manufacturers. But Tesla, producing chips in-house, haven’t been as affected.
We’ll have to wait for more news on the Roadster, but if previous patters are to go by, don’t hold your breath. I’m very excited to see more when it does finally come, though.
