The SpaceX Starship has suffered a huge failure during testing on Wednesday with a large section of the vehicle exploding, damaging at least the top of the ship. The horrific incident was viewed via the livestream from Boca Chica in southern Texas.

During cryogenic testing, a test used to see how the vehicle can survive at extremely low temperatures, it blew its top off, pushing back SpaceX’s timeline of private space tourism for the masses.
Elon Musk was quick to answer the tweets regarding the incident on Twitter. “Absolutely, but to move to Mk3 design. This [the Mk 1] had some value as a manufacturing pathfinder, but flight design is quite different,” Elon says.

This confirms that they will not be repairing Mk1, with the company instead moving onto either the Mk2 or Mk3 design for further testing.
There isn’t any news so far regarding what caused the explosion, but there are photos showing engineers working on the nosecone of the vehicle, apparently repositioning, with the help of a sledgehammer.
Crud, it is stuck. Yes that is a hammer. pic.twitter.com/P3aY5Opb3n
