Audi Q4 E-Tron Sportsback Gets New Concept

Last week, we found out more details on the upcoming S editions of Audi’s electric E-Tron sedan. Now this week, we get a concept look at the Sportsback version of their future crossover Q4 E-Tron.

The Q4 Sportsback has a very capable and beefy design. It’s got hard lines in all the right places, with a wide stance, big air scoops on the front, diffusers on the back, and an enclosed grill with an armor-like pattern.

The headlights are like the other E-Trons, LED slits that carry the defining lines which lead to the doors and side-mirrors. Speaking of those doors, they are noticeably absent of handles.

On the performance front, the Q4 comes with dual motors and a 82 kWh battery. It would be good for a combined 302 horsepower, and a 0-62 time of 6.3 seconds. Audi says the top speed would be 112 mph.

On the inside, it looks very clean and tranquil. Notably, their is a flat-bottomed steering wheel, Alcantara seats, and some very interesting infotainment screen placement. The touchscreen appears to go through the dash, and come out on the other side as a row of physical buttons.

My one gripe on the interior, admitting that the concept will have this and the production likely won’t, are the hard “E-Tron” branding panels right where a child’s head would rest in the back seat. It’s impossible for me to look at without imagining how badly it would hurt to bump into, and Audi didn’t need to remind us of the car’s name from that angle.

This’ll likely be a 2022 model year vehicle, joining the regular Q4 E-Tron at the end of the year. Hopefully they’re competitively priced, since I would love to see more of these about town.
