Modified Nissan 370Z Bursts Into Flames Racing Tesla Model S Plaid

The owner of a Nissan 370Z recently found out the hard way just how much power is needed to keep up with a Tesla Model S Plaid.

Tesla advertised the Model S Plaid as having a 0-60 mph time of just 1.99 seconds, making it one of the fastest accelerating production cars you can buy before getting into hyper car territory.

The modified car community is full of drivers who have spent a huge amount of money on increasing the performance, like this 370Z owner, and they love the opportunity to show off what they have done and put the cars to the test.

According to the video, the Nissan 370Z has 700 hip at the wheels and has a turbo package. You can see in the video that it initially looks as though the 370Z is using this power to pull ahead of the Model S Plaid but this doesn’t last long with the Nissan soon disappears in the Tesla’s rear view mirror.

Not wanting to give up, the Nissan soon manages to pull back up alongside the Model S Plaid to give it another go. In a moment of what can only be described as ‘instant regret’, the 370Z only just starts to accelerate when there is a loud mechanical rumble, a flash of orange to the rear and then the back end of the Nissan is engulfed in flames.

Luckily, it looks as though the flames die down by themselves as the Nissan draws to a stop but even though it was only for a short moment, there is still damage to the paintwork. It is unclear as to whether there were any mechanical damage but usually a major blow like this would take you up to the thousands in repairs.
