Powerwalls Sent By Tesla To Help Power Medical Centres In Ukraine

Powerwalls have been sent to Ukraine from Tesla to power medical clinics following the Russian invasion which has left Ukraine with unreliable power.

The vice prime minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, said on Twitter:

“Tesla Powerwall tech will power up two ambulant clinics in Irpin and Borodyanka. New solar panels and integrated battery systems will not only use renewable energy, but also store it for backup protection. We are grateful to Tesla and Elon Musk for this continuous support.”

Fedorov also put up images of the Powerwalls being unloaded. He went on to explain:

“Tesla Powerwall tech will power up two ambulant clinics in Irpin and Borodyanka. New solar panels and integrated battery systems will not only use renewable energy, but also store it for backup protection. We are grateful to @Tesla and @elonmusk for this continuous support.”

This is not the first time Tesla and CEO, Elon Musk, has provided support to Ukraine such as offering free Supercharging from some stations for electric vehicle owners leaving the country and SpaceX supplying Starlink terminals to allow satellite-based internet.

The Starlink terminals were supplied with help from the team at Gigafactory Berlin who later added the Powerwalls.

The Powerwalls do usually require quite a complicated installation process when used conventionally as backup power for a home. However, Tesla have released a way that just take a few minutes by only powering up the few critical pieces with the battery pack.

These Powerwalls can also be used on the go as they can be recharged through a chain of solar panels with the idea that it will specifically help to power medical units in the war-torn country.
