Tesla Model 3 On Autopilot Pushed For Half A Mile By Semi Truck

Have you seen the newest Wham Baam Teslacam video? A semi-truck slammed into the rear end of a Tesla Model 3 that was on Autopilot during an unanticipated lane change.

The Model 3 driver stated that he was driving in the right lane when the semi passed him. According to the Tesla owner, the truck had been in the left lane for a long time. The Model 3 driver moved into the right lane and eventually passed by the semi.

The semi, however, changed lanes to the right just before the Tesla passed it completely, causing it to clip its rear end. The Model 3 was clipped in the back, causing it to spin out and come to a stop in front of the semi. In “t-bone” fashion, the semi-truck pushed the Tesla down the road.

Fortunately, rather than the car being deflected by the truck and possibly exacerbating the problem, they were held together for about half a mile before finally coming apart. It appears that amazingly, the truck driver was unaware of what was happening under his nose. The truck driver eventually came to a stop because he felt there might be something wrong with his semi-truck as he could feel resistance but never saw the Model 3.

The Tesla driver claims that the Autopilot system alerted him when the truck was about to clip the back, but it was too late for him to react. The Model 3 also attempted to steer away, he said, but due to the force of the vehicle moving at 70 mph, it was unable to do so.

The truck driver was found to be at blame, and the Model 3 driver was unharmed. He had to wait months for his automobile to be repaired, and the damage cost $20,000 in total.
