Tesla News: Modded Model Ys have Arrived, and They’re Fabulous

Sometimes the world gets in perfect sync, and you’re greeted by a pair of new modified Model Y Teslas at the same time. Today is one of those days, and we’re going to dive into a couple of videos featuring very cool builds of everyone’s favorite electric crossover.

First, we have a Model Y that is reminiscence of that German Delta 4×4 overlanding Model 3 from a couple of weeks ago. i1Tesla, a Youtuber who has been building a unique overlanding Model Y, shared his progress in a new video where he and his son test the car’s unpaved chops.

The car has been tastefully done to be more practical for the Appalachian roads, with a 4″ lift kit, 31″ Toyo tires, a rugged greed vinyl wrap, and a custom rack with LED lights. Although it doesn’t have an optimized “off-road” setting for the computer, it seems really capable for adventure.

After lowering the tires pressure to 31 psi, it seems as comfortable on the mountain passes as any AWD station wagon (Subaru better start buffing up). I can’t wait to see more of these overlanding builds, which are so practical for where many eco-friendly people live.

Next up, we have a Model Y owned by Sasha Anis of Mountain Pass Performance (who contributed some parts to the previous overlander). This Model Y has been modded for speed, and absolutely delivers towards the claim of “world’s fastest SUV.”

It’s a “stormtrooper” colorway, with 20×11 +40 Volk TE37 wheels, A Mountain Pass brake kit, control arms, coil-overs, and tires which made it fit into the Super Street series at the track.

Going up against such heavily modded vehicles and sportscars like the Porsche 911 Turbo S and a AWD Integra race car, the MPP Model Y came in third place. Even though it weighed more than a 1,000 lbs more than its competition.

Of course the Model Y isn’t many people’s idea of a SUV, it’s actually a lot smaller and still a crossover, but whoa is the performance of this impressive.

It’s only a matter of time before we start seeing these mods carry over into other builds, and eventually the Cybertruck and Roadster!
