This Tesla Model 3 Can Sound Like It’s Powered By A V8, V10, or V12

A custom exhaust company from the UK has produced an app for the Tesla Model 3, allowing the car to produce a number of engine sounds when it’s being driven. Obviously, being EVs, all Tesla Models are for the most part silent. But this app could certainly turn some potential customers that prefer the sound of combustion to the whir of an electric motor.

The YouTuber Archie Hamilton Racing featured the car on his channel, which can produce 98dB of exhaust sound. Using the app, you can change the engine note and choose how many cylinders, and new sounds are being uploaded to it all the time.

“For some, the peace and quiet of a Tesla is the reason they buy the car. For us, it was the way the car drives, and the silence was something we saw as a project to overcome. Why can’t we have the best of both worlds?” Miltek Sport wrote on the company website.

This isn’t a new idea. The Porsche Taycan has modes like this available, and it doesn’t just end at the sound of a combustion engine. Theoretically, you could make your car sound like anything from a jet plane to something from the Jetsons. This would be very nice to have, especially as Teslas can sometimes suffer from increased cabin noise from the air and tyres that would usually be covered by the engine noise.
