A modified Tesla Model 3 Ascension R went up against a Porsche 991 GT2 RS and made incredible speeds.
Unplugged Performance, who are popular for their Tesla body kits car upgrades, have shared the video showing the two cars completing a lap around the Buttonwillow Raceway.
We have previously reported on Unplugged Performance’s “world’s fastest” Model 3 which they modified along with Koenigsegg. This is the same car that they tested against the Porsche 991 GT2 RS.
The video shows the Porsche achieving a lap time or 1:50.4 which the Tesla beat with a time of 1:49.90.
Updating their followers on Instagram, Unplugged Performance said:
“We broke below the 1:50 barrier at Buttonwillow! A Supercar lap time with a bolt-on UP modded street car! @FromWhereICHG piloted our 2022 street spec Model 3 Ascension-R package. It is crazy how fast our bolt-on brakes, suspension and street spec aero is making these Model 3s!”
In the description of the YouTube video, Unplugged Performance also explain:
“The GT3 RS is one of the world’s greateste driver’s cars on any race track.”
“We challenged ourselves to create a cohesive daily driven Tesla Model 3 upgrade package that can provide all of the benefits of an electric four-door sedan with two trucks and Autopilot, yet one that can transform into a Porsche 911 GT3 RS rival on race tracks like Buttonwillow.
